“PBJC completed our pool in late February and we’ve enjoyed it all summer. Our design consultant, JR, worked through a couple of iterations to help us find a design we loved, only to have our HOA not approve it because of the severe slope in our yard (would have caused a lack of privacy). So we again worked with JR and came up with an even better design that met the HOA guidelines. We started this process soon after the pandemic started so it did take longer to complete than we anticipated. We were able to make small design changes to the paver layout at the time of installation, which we appreciated because it’s not easy to really visualize how things will change in your yard, particularly when it’s on a slope. We were able to get in touch with the team most of the time without issue. We have had interactions with their service and maintenance teams and they are very helpful and friendly. I believe we have a well built, quality pool. I would definitely recommend PBJC!“

“My husband and I decided to put in a pool in mid 2020, in the middle of Covid. We spoke to a couple of different companies, all local and absolutely felt the best about Pools by John Clarkson. Our sales rep is fabulous, Russ Bourque. We worked closely with Russ on the proposal, all of the elements that we wanted to make sure were included in the design. Russ was very thorough and so helpful. Once we confirmed our design choices and paid our deposit, the process starts to really move. We had a really lovely project manager who was at our house all the time, Edmund. The construction process is long and you have to remain patient but the team at PBJC is top notch. They do not skip a step. They laid out our timeline and even though the process feels like forever, the end result is so amazing. We love our pool and the outdoor kitchen that PBJC installed. We are very picky and could not be happier with our backyard and the job that they have done. “In 1989, when we moved back to Jacksonville from Tulsa, OK, we had a patio home built on Masters Ridge Drive in Hidden Hills. And we contracted with John Clarkson Pools to build us a screened-in swimming pool behind our house adjacent to the 18^th fairway.

Over these past more than three decades, our whole family has enjoyed using the pool. My wife, Jo Ann, and I especially enjoyed watching our four grandchildren have loads of fun in the pool. Of course, these many years later, we so treasure those many memories.

When we had the pool installed, it was recommended that we install a self-cleaning system which would keep residue from sinking to the bottom of the pool but would keep it in suspension to be channeled to the pool filter.  In these past more than thirty years, I have never had to vacuum the pool even once. Whenever I needed to replace any parts in the cleaning system, I would stop at All Florida Pool Supply on Beach Boulevard and get the parts. But now All Florida is no longer there and over the past more than a year when I needed parts, I went to Pinch a Penny for assistance but they informed me that parts were not available.

So for the past year, my pool water has not been rotating through four different areas, one area at a time to forcibly be expelled to keep the residue in suspension. Instead, all four areas have been open continually which did not allow sufficient “force” to keep the residue in suspension which resulted in a “cloudy” pool.

Sometime this Spring, I stopped at your office seeking assistance. I really was not optimistic that parts could be found to address my pool problem, but I felt that it was worth a try.

Today when I look out at my pool area, I see “crystal clear water” in the pool. I want to offer my special appreciation to Karli and Chris for their extensive, and patient, efforts to do a nationwide search for the parts. Although I had all but given up on finding the parts, they did not give up.

So these many years later, I feel that my wife and I made a wise choice in having our pool installed by John Clarkson Pools.”

“This review is a little delayed, but we are about 6 weeks post completion of the pool. We can’t say enough good things about our experience with Pools by John Clarkson. I think we probably began the conversation about a pool like most families and we began calling what seemed like every pool company in Jacksonville. After a few came out and gave us their idea of what we wanted we called PBJC and we honestly couldn’t be happier.

From the time we called PBJC they were up front on how the pool process would be. We spoke with Jordan Rothman (JR) over the phone and after a few meetings with him to review our wants versus needs he presented an idea to us that was exactly what we were looking for. During the process Jordan was extremely up front on everything regarding the pool and explained to us where the major dollars would be used, something the other pool companies failed to explain. Due to our yard layout we required a fairly substantial retaining wall which ate up a pretty significant part of our budget.

Once we agreed on the budget and design, we met with the staff at PBJC to pick out the pool bottom finish (Teal pebble) and the glass water line tile. After picking the materials out and signing the contract we met with Eric Jent, our construction supervisor, who was absolutely wonderful to deal with. Eric made the process painless and stayed in constant communication about the daily, weekly or monthly steps and progress we should be expecting and seeing. We expected delays and some issues given the horror stories we read and heard about from friends but with Eric and Jordan (who not only sold us the pool but made frequent site visits to check on the progress) it was a wonderful experience.

I realize we said this earlier but we honestly cannot say enough good things about Pools by John Clarkson, however it was really these two guys who made this process completely painless and honestly fun. They treated us not as just customers but friends. We sincerely enjoyed working with the group at PBJC and would highly recommend them (especially Jordan and Eric) to anyone looking for a pool.”

“Hey Jordan, here are some of the pictures we talked about.  I hope they will be useful to you.  I wanted to let you know how much we have appreciated having you and PBJC build our pool.  It has been the best investment and addition that we have done to our home.  At one point we were considering adding on to our home over the garage, but after the pool and its large deck were built, the extra space has been perfect for our family and taken away our need for more space inside the house.

From about March on, we have many different families come over to enjoy a time of playing in the pool with our kids.  It’s the only way to entertain when families with children come to visit.  The children play in the pool for hours and hours.

Your suggestion of putting in the heat pump, instead of the solar panels has been a great suggestion too.  This December, my parents came for Christmas, when the daytime highs were in the 70’s but night time temperatures were pretty low.  We heated the pool for a day, and it was warm enough to enjoy those memories with my parents at the end of December!  We had two different families come with 5 children in October and then the middle of November.  Here again, we stoked up the heater and had tons of fun swimming, when there wouldn’t have been enough sunshine to guarantee the water would get hot enough otherwise.

Also, I wanted to let you know the design you created, with the 6ft. X 4 ft. area that only has 9 inches of water is a big hit for our family.  It makes the pool so versatile.  Adults can lounge on it just to keep cool. Best of all, I know that we have taught at least 8 really young children how to enjoy the pool by having that area for them to splash around in before they are ready to jump into the 3 ft. area.  We affectionately call this are ‘The Beach’.

The most important thing I wanted to say thank you for was the incredible ‘after-the sale’ service that your company has provided to us through out the past 4 years.  From having the paver brick guys come out to re-level the back part of our retaining wall, when it settled unevenly after so much rain from the many hurricanes we had that first summer, to the most recent time when you had Jim come out and find the issue we were experiencing.  Wow!  I can’t thank you enough for being there as a stable, consistent, honest vendor in this market place.  You guys are the best and we appreciate you very much.

“When I contracted to have my home built in May of 2007, Pulte was co-opting with John Clarkson pools. They had built the pools in the models and were the company buyers had to use if they wanted a pool before closing.

Patsy and I are glad those were the rules in effect. We are totally satisfied and our pool gets compliments from those who have visited us. There are two pools within 200′ of my home that were built by the “cheapest bid”. My neighbor across the street had to have two separate companies come to straighten out the poor design and workmanship of a St. Augustine builder. They spent months re-plumbing his system and installing more equipment. This was all on his dime! The neighbors next door had to have their pool drained and resurfaced. The coating was wearing off and clogging the filter system. The installer blamed the manufacturer and vice versa. After a year it was repaired.

I want to recommend John Clarkson Pools to you. They are top of the line. The warranty for home pools is the longest in the industry. Before they carried equipment from Jandy Corporation, John Clarkson asked for and received an extended warranty for their equipment with the caveat that a factory trained and employed tech would be available to service all installations. I do know that Clarkson will stand behind their work and do what is right for their customers.“

“Hands downs you want Pools by John Clarkson to install your pool!!! I can’t say enough great things about this place. We had the standard level pool installed, and we couldn’t be happier! Standard level at PBJC, isn’t really all that standard though. They allow you to pick the paver stones, tile, and pool shell color from a pre-selected group, but allow for upgrades if you want. As you can see from the photos the basic level materials were fabulous! In addition, the team at PBJC couldn’t have been nicer and more available.

They answered the phone and came by immediately when contacted, even sometimes on days they weren’t really even open (Thanks Debbi!) The greatest part of my family’s experience with PBJC was working with our project manager Eric. Talk about a nice, hardworking guy! He fielded questions from my grumpy 90-year-old father (sometimes the same question many times over) always with a smile and a can-do attitude, no matter what we asked him to do. Our yard has always had a drainage problem, but Eric and his team went above and beyond to correct and manage all the issues with water drainage. Eric’s attention to detail, project management skills and overall knowledge really made this a seamless and pleasant process. I have had the unfortunate experience in the past of hiring the wrong contractor for a different job, but PBJC is the right contractor for pool installation!

They aren’t the cheapest guys on the block, but so well worth the money!”

“So my story with PBJC started a year before I used their services. I purchased a home in Queens Harbor that had previously had a PBJC pool that had been installed 20 years ago. Still a great pool, but the other owners didn’t have a spa, and that was something I really wanted. So IRMA hit and a tree fell into the pool. I called PBJC and they came to the rescue. All the other companies wanted to rip the pool out and start over. PBJC came in well under budget to the others, put in a spa, all new equipment, remarcited, retiled, fixed the retaining wall from the hurricane, fixed the leaks, and installed a beautiful travertine deck. Jeff Hocker was amazing throughout the entire process. Every single email, and phone call was promptly answered, no small or large detail was overlooked. Some of the crews were especially noteworthy. The dig and rebar crews were excellent. The construction site was always cleared of debris and trash. “Beautiful pool design and construction by PBJC and Kyle Kempton. For our new pool construction, Kyle designed a beautiful salt water pool and spa, complete on time and on budget. For any issues requiring other company coordination (The Screen Guys, propane gas company re-piping, etc.), Kyle handled everything. Kyle also included meaningful details in the design that I only fully understood after the pool was built. What I mean is Kyle designed in and built an underground drain system in between the pool and our house — where the travertine tiles had subtle notches in them to allow any pool water overflow to drain away from the house. During hurricane Irma, the overflowing pool (from all of the rain) spilled over and instead of the water running towards the house, the water all drained out to the sides and away. This kind of attention to detail was a strong indicator that Kyle had our best interests in mind with not only a beautiful pool / spa design, but also a highly functional one. When we moved into the house, we contracted with Pools by John Clarkson to construct a pool, put pavers on our patio and construct a screen over the entire facility.  While Pulte did not oversee this construction, they did recommend John Clarkson to us.  We have been very pleased with both the construction and service provided by this company.

The service they have provided us has been exemplary and they have stood behind their product with no exceptions.  A number of Riverwood residents have constructed pools using other builders.  They wanted to save a few dollars in so doing.  Unfortunately, these people are paying for this with continual maintenance on pools that are less than 18 months old.
